Tell us what you found. Or what went wrong.
A broken link, a correction, a question about your records: here is how to reach the person who runs Before Us.
One person, one inbox.
lucaszlj821@outlook.comEmail is the best way to reach me about Before Us. I welcome messages in English or Chinese. Choose a topic below to open a draft in your email app; nothing is sent until you send it.
What would you like to see here?
Suggest an article, tell me which archive is difficult to use, or point out a part of the website that is confusing. A specific question helps: “How do I find a passenger list for someone who arrived in Sydney in 1924?” is a useful starting point.
This inbox is for the website and its content. It is not a commissioned research service, and a message does not guarantee that an individual family history investigation can be carried out.
Send a question or ideaHelp get the details right.
For a factual correction, include the page address, the sentence you are concerned about and a link to the evidence. If a photograph, quotation or other material needs a credit or rights review, identify the item and explain your connection to it.
You do not need to send an entire family archive. A public source link or a short description is enough for the first message. Please remove living people’s private details from screenshots.
Report a correctionSomething not working?
Include the page, your device or browser, the approximate time, what you tried to do and the message shown on screen. Do not send your Google password, login codes, API keys or full research results. A redacted screenshot is helpful if it shows the problem.
When a research limit is reached, follow the message about trying again. Saving or exporting an existing record does not require another search. For everyday steps, the help page is a useful first stop.
Privacy requests go here too.
You can ask about access, correction, deletion or another concern involving your personal information. Explain what you want to happen and, if relevant, which account or record is involved. Do not attach identity documents in your first email. If verification is needed, I will explain what is necessary.
Send a privacy requestMessages are read by the site operator, not a live support team. There is no guaranteed response time. A privacy concern will be investigated and you will be told the outcome or why more information is needed. See the privacy policy for data handling and further complaint options.
