What Cookie and local storage mean
A Cookie is a small value stored by your browser and sent with matching web requests. localStorage stays in the browser and is read by the website. Both can remember settings; not every use is advertising or tracking.
The table lists storage set by the Before Us application. Google sign-in and infrastructure providers may also process their own security or account data under their policies. Cookies on google.com are managed by Google, not by this site’s settings.
What this website uses
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime and control |
|---|---|---|
| __Host-before_us_login | First-party Cookie · login security | Up to 10 minutes. Matches the Google sign-in response to the browser that started it; cleared when sign-in completes. |
| __Host-before_us_session | First-party Cookie · session | Up to 7 days. Keeps your private workspace signed in; cleared on sign-out. Marked Secure and HttpOnly. |
| before-us.language | First-party Cookie · language | Up to 1 year after choosing a language. English is the default without a saved preference. |
| xungen.privacy.v1 | First-party localStorage · choice | A choice is valid for 180 days, then we ask again. The stored value remains until replaced or cleared. |
| _ga / _ga_* | Google Analytics · optional | Configured for up to 180 days, only after consent. This site’s Google Analytics cookies are cleared when you withdraw through privacy settings. |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics | Optional script · no analytics Cookie | Runs on eligible public pages after consent. It does not store a browser analytics identifier in a Cookie or localStorage. |
Make or change a choice
On your first visit, or when a saved choice expires, the website asks whether to allow analytics. “Necessary cookies only” keeps required functions and leaves analytics off. “Accept analytics” enables both analytics services on eligible public pages. Either choice lets you continue using the website.
Open “Privacy & Cookie settings” in the footer, uncheck analytics and save to withdraw. Saving reloads the page so your choice takes effect. Clear the remembered choice there if you want to see the first-visit dialog again.
Clearing site data in your browser removes settings and can sign you out. Blocking cookies may prevent sign-in or stop a preference being remembered. Cookie settings do not replace the separate confirmation before research clues are sent for processing.
Analytics and private research
Research and login pages do not load visitor analytics. Public-page analytics measure visits and performance, not the content of family records. Google advertising signals are disabled in the site’s analytics configuration. More information is in the privacy policy.
Advertising is not enabled
Before Us currently sets no advertising cookies. A future advertising launch needs an updated notice and appropriate consent controls. Today’s analytics choice does not pre-authorise future advertising.
The current dialog is for analytics. It is not a Google-certified consent management platform. Before serving ads that require one, we must implement a platform that meets the applicable Google consent management requirements.
Questions about a Cookie
Send its name and the page where you noticed it to lucaszlj821@outlook.com. Do not send the value of a session cookie: it may give access to your account.
